Abstract

COP27 climate talks in Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt has had an extended run into the weekend because of disagreement amongst nations on current climate crisis faced by them. The Egyptian hosts are trying to broker an agreement with almost 200 countries after two weeks of negotiations. There are major areas of disagreement among the countries on “loss and damage” and “phasing out all fossil fuels”. The leading global climate scientists are also preparing a new report to support more effective policies including adaptation to finance.

This issue has eight papers from various parts of Asia addressing current climate change crisis that were discussed in the COP27 meeting such as — Food security linked to rice crops; Psychology and psychological adaptation of disasters in riverine islands (Char) of rural Bangladesh; Corporate social responsibility addressing climate change—Socio-legal aspect; Adaptation of the indigenous peoples of Cagayan, Philippines; Impact of climate change on water resources from villages of Tonk district, Rajasthan, India; Linkage between climate and corona virus; Assessment of potential rainfall distribution patterns and inundation in Vietnam; Sustainable zero-liquid discharge in the changing climate scenarios. I am sure readers will certainly gain greater awareness and get an insight into the global current climate related problems in this issue.
