Abstract

Our mother earth is now becoming warmer day by day since few thousand years. In the previous two decades majority of the periods are showing warmer temperature as well as increase in frequency due to rise in concentration of carbon dioxide that is likely to be highest (30% increase due to human impact in last 100 yrs) in the last few million years. Hence 2019 has witnessed historically unprecedented disappearance of ice, to flood-ravaged cities and worst drought regions of the world. It is now confirmed that the ocean in recent decades has continued its steadfast rate of CO2 absorption, but how long can it effectively store carbon dioxide and reduce the global warming? This issue of JCC addresses the current hot problems such as mitigation impact of climate disasters; role of man-induced reactive nitrogen in the coastal and mangrove areas linked to climate change; sustenance of meteorological drought; CO2 rise impact on Bt-cotton production – how to manage it with reliable climate projections; role of green infrastructure in enhancing climate resiliences; and status of negotiation analysis of climate change talks and Indian strategies to tackle it globally.
